The Open House principle is simple: give the public FREE access to buildings and public spaces of exceptional quality over one weekend. Open House Lagos aims to nurture an understanding and appreciation of great buildings from the past, present and future, as well as projecting the values of excellence and beauty through architectural styles. It is tailored for all to appreciate and consider architecture as part of the wider impact in their communities.
The first ever Open House in Africa took place in Lagos from Friday 29 April to Sunday 1 May 2016. Over the last three years, the pre- and post-event press coverage, 2000+ volunteer applications, 40+ buildings, positive feedback proves that this pioneering event must continue.
OHL spreads across Lagos Islands, Mainland and in-between, as it is deliberately curated to showcase the depth of architectural expression, aesthetics and functionality. From the colonial to the modern, the myriad of sponsorship opportunities is matched by the variety of buildings on display.
The continued success of the project can only be achieved with the collaboration and involvement of corporate bodies and government agencies that share this vision to promote the importance of pitching our city’s unique architecture alongside that of the world’s greatest cities.
Sponsors enjoy priority access to the Open House Lagos Weekend and events, excellent brand recognition across media and engagement platforms and engage in meaningful corporate responsibility with Nigeria’s only and most renowned architectural festival.
